How to Find and Update Drivers for Your CLX PC

Evan Evan

Introduction

Your CLX PC comes with the necessary drivers installed for your hardware. However, you may occasionally need to update a driver to improve compatibility, performance, or stability.

The most common drivers you may need to update are:

  • Graphics card (GPU) drivers
  • Motherboard chipset drivers
  • Other component-specific drivers, when applicable

In most cases, you do not need to manually update every driver on your PC. Windows Update and the hardware manufacturers handle many driver updates automatically.

If you're unsure which drivers your CLX PC needs, contact CLX Support and we can help identify the correct drivers for your system.

Updating Your Graphics Card Driver

Your graphics card is one of the most important components to keep updated, particularly if you use your PC for gaming.

CLX systems primarily use NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon graphics cards.

NVIDIA Graphics Cards

If your PC has an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, you can download the latest drivers directly from NVIDIA.

NVIDIA Driver Downloads

NVIDIA also provides the NVIDIA App, which can identify your graphics card and help keep its drivers up to date.

For gaming systems, NVIDIA's Game Ready Drivers are generally the appropriate driver type.

AMD Graphics Cards

If your PC has an AMD Radeon graphics card, you can download the latest drivers directly from AMD.

AMD Drivers and Support

AMD provides an Auto-Detect and Install tool that can identify supported Radeon hardware and install the appropriate driver. AMD also provides its Adrenalin Edition software for Radeon graphics cards.

Finding Your Motherboard Model

Your motherboard may require additional drivers, including chipset, LAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and audio drivers.

The exact drivers available depend on your motherboard model.

You can find your motherboard model using Windows' built-in System Information tool:

  1. Press the Windows key.
  2. Type System Information.
  3. Open the System Information application.
  4. Find BaseBoard Manufacturer and BaseBoard Product.

The BaseBoard Product field identifies your motherboard model.

Downloading Motherboard Drivers

Once you know your motherboard model:

  1. Go to the motherboard manufacturer's official website.
  2. Search for your exact motherboard model.
  3. Open the motherboard's Support or Downloads page.
  4. Select the appropriate version of Windows.
  5. Download the driver you need.

Depending on the motherboard, available drivers may include:

  • Chipset
  • LAN/Ethernet
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • Audio
  • Storage or controller drivers

Only install drivers intended for your exact motherboard model.

If you're unsure which driver you need, contact CLX Support before installing it.

Do You Need to Update Every Driver?

No.

You generally do not need to manually update every driver on your PC.

Windows Update automatically handles many common drivers, while NVIDIA, AMD, and motherboard manufacturers provide drivers for their respective hardware.

We recommend updating drivers when:

  • You're experiencing an issue that may be driver-related
  • You're installing new hardware
  • A manufacturer releases a driver that specifically addresses an issue you're experiencing
  • CLX Support recommends updating a particular driver

We recommend avoiding third-party driver-updater programs that claim to automatically update every driver on your PC. These programs are not necessary and may install incorrect or unnecessary drivers.

For the best results, download drivers directly from CLX or the hardware manufacturer's official website.

What If I Have an Issue After Updating a Driver?

If a problem starts immediately after installing a new driver, don't continue installing different drivers at random.

Instead, contact CLX Support and let us know:

  • Your CLX serial number
  • Which driver you updated
  • Which component the driver was for
  • What problem started after the update
  • Any error messages you received

We can help determine whether the driver is related to the issue and what steps to take next.

If you're experiencing a graphics-related issue and need to perform a clean GPU driver installation, see our separate guide for instructions on performing a clean GPU driver installation.

Need Help Finding the Right Driver?

If you're unsure which driver your CLX PC needs, you don't have to figure it out on your own.

Contact CLX Support with your CLX serial number, and we'll help identify the appropriate hardware and point you toward the correct driver.

Important

Always download drivers from CLX or the hardware manufacturer's official website when available. Avoid downloading drivers from third-party websites unless specifically directed to do so by CLX Support.
