Add Bluetooth to Your PC

Boudy H. Boudy H.

Bluetooth lets your PC connect wirelessly to devices such as headsets, speakers, keyboards, mice, and controllers. Many desktop PCs include Bluetooth through the motherboard or a wireless adapter. If your CLX system doesn't have Bluetooth, you may be able to add it with a compatible Wi-Fi and Bluetooth expansion card.

Check whether your PC already has Bluetooth

Before installing any hardware, check whether Bluetooth is already available.

  1. Open Windows Settings and select Bluetooth & devices.
  2. Check Device Manager for a Bluetooth category or Bluetooth adapter.
  3. Check your CLX build sheet for information about wireless or Bluetooth support.

If Bluetooth is listed but isn't working, you may have a driver or hardware issue. Contact CLX Support for assistance before installing new hardware.

If your PC doesn't have Bluetooth

A Wi-Fi and Bluetooth expansion card is one way to add Bluetooth to a desktop PC. These cards install inside the PC and may also provide Wi-Fi connectivity.

Because compatibility depends on your system's hardware, contact CLX Support if you're unsure which card your system supports.

Have CLX install the card

If you don't want to install the hardware yourself, CLX may be able to source and install a compatible Wi-Fi and Bluetooth expansion card for you. Contact CLX Support to confirm compatibility and available service options.

Install the card yourself

If you're comfortable working inside your PC, you can install a compatible expansion card yourself.

Safety: Turn off the PC and disconnect it from power before opening the case or handling internal components. If you're unsure about any part of the installation, stop and contact CLX Support.

  1. Shut down the PC and disconnect it from power.
  2. Open the PC case and locate an available compatible expansion slot.
  3. Install the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Connect any required antennas or internal cables.
  5. Close the case, reconnect power, and start the PC.
  6. Install the required drivers for the card.
  7. Open Windows Settings and turn on Bluetooth.
  8. Put your Bluetooth device into pairing mode and connect it through Bluetooth & devices.

If Bluetooth still doesn't appear

Make sure the expansion card is installed correctly and that the required drivers are installed. If Bluetooth still doesn't appear in Windows, contact CLX Support for assistance.

When to Contact CLX Support

Contact CLX Support if you're unsure whether your system already has Bluetooth, need help confirming hardware compatibility, or aren't comfortable opening the PC and installing an expansion card.
