Understanding and Controlling RGB on Your CLX PC

Most current CLX systems use addressable RGB (ARGB), sometimes labeled DRGB depending on your motherboard brand. ARGB lighting is typically controlled through your motherboard's RGB software, though some ARGB fans also include a remote. Some cases also have a built-in RGB button that can control the lighting, depending on the case.

If you're not sure which type your system has, check your build sheet, or contact CLX Support with your serial number and we can confirm.

Check the ARGB Connection

For motherboard software to control your fans, the fan hub must be connected to a compatible ARGB header on the motherboard.

Safety: Shut down your PC and disconnect it from power before opening the case or handling internal components. If you're unsure about any connection, stop and contact CLX Support.

1. Locate the ARGB cable connected to the fan hub.
2. Make sure the cable is securely connected to the ARGB input on the fan hub.
3. Make sure the other end is connected to a compatible 5V 3-pin ARGB header on the motherboard.
4. Make sure the connector is aligned correctly before connecting it.

Important: Never connect a 5V 3-pin ARGB cable to a 12V 4-pin RGB header. Using the wrong header can damage the RGB components.

The location and labeling of the ARGB header varies by motherboard. Refer to your motherboard documentation, or contact CLX Support if you're unsure which header to use.

Change the RGB Using Motherboard Software

Once the ARGB connection is confirmed, you can control the fan lighting through your motherboard's RGB software.

ASUS
ASUS uses Armoury Crate and Aura Sync for compatible RGB devices.

1. Open Armoury Crate.
2. Select Aura Sync or the applicable lighting settings.
3. Select the available RGB device or lighting zone.
4. Choose your preferred color or lighting effect.
5. Apply the changes and check the fans.

MSI
MSI uses Mystic Light through MSI Center.

1. Open MSI Center.
2. Open Mystic Light.
3. Select the detected RGB device.
4. Choose your preferred color or lighting effect.
5. Apply the changes and check the fans.

Gigabyte
Gigabyte uses RGB Fusion through Gigabyte Control Center.

1. Open Gigabyte Control Center.
2. Open RGB Fusion.
3. Select the applicable RGB device or lighting zone.
4. Choose your preferred color or lighting effect.
5. Apply the changes and check the fans.

ASRock
ASRock uses Polychrome RGB for compatible RGB devices.

1. Open the ASRock RGB control software.
2. Locate the RGB or lighting settings.
3. Select your preferred color or lighting effect.
4. Apply the changes and check the fans.

Available RGB controls and effects vary depending on your motherboard, fan hub, and system configuration.

Change the RGB Using a Remote

Some ARGB fans include a remote as an alternative to motherboard software.

1. Turn on your PC and make sure the fan lighting is powered.
2. Point the remote toward the RGB receiver.
3. Use the buttons on the remote to change the color, lighting effect, brightness, or lighting speed.

Available controls may vary depending on the RGB hub installed in your system.

Need a Replacement RGB Remote?
If your CLX system included an RGB remote and it's missing or no longer works, contact CLX Support to request a replacement. Have your CLX system serial number and current shipping address available when you contact us.

Change the RGB Using the Case Button

Some cases include a built-in RGB button that lets you cycle through lighting colors or effects directly, without a remote or motherboard software. Whether your case has this button, and what it controls, depends on your specific case.

1. Locate the RGB button on your case. It's typically on the front or top panel.
2. Press the button to cycle through available colors or lighting effects.
3. Some case buttons also let you hold the button down to adjust brightness or speed.

If pressing the button doesn't change your fan lighting, your case may not include this feature, or your fans may be set to be controlled through motherboard software or a remote instead. Check your build sheet or contact CLX Support if you're not sure which method applies to your case.

If the RGB Lighting Doesn't Change

1. Make sure the PC and RGB hub are powered on.
2. If you're using motherboard software, verify that the ARGB cable is connected correctly to the fan hub and a 5V 3-pin ARGB header.
3. If you're using a remote, make sure you're pointing it toward the receiver, and replace the batteries if needed.
4. If your case has an RGB button, make sure you're pressing it firmly and that the case's RGB button is actually wired to your fan hub.
5. Make sure you're using the correct RGB software for your motherboard.
6. Restart the PC and check the lighting again.

Legacy RGB Systems

If your CLX system is an older build with standard RGB rather than ARGB, your lighting is controlled through the included RGB remote or, depending on the case, a case RGB button, rather than motherboard software.

1. Turn on your PC and make sure the fan lighting is powered.
2. If using the remote, point it toward the RGB receiver and use its buttons to change the color, lighting effect, brightness, or lighting speed.
3. If using a case button, press it to cycle through available colors or effects.

Standard RGB fans do not connect to an ARGB header and are not controlled through ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, or ASRock RGB software. If you're unsure whether your system has standard RGB or ARGB, check your build sheet or contact CLX Support.

When to Contact CLX Support

Contact CLX Support if you're unsure whether your system uses ARGB or standard RGB, unsure how your lighting is configured, or unsure where to connect the ARGB cable. You should also contact us if the fans aren't detected after following the steps above, or if you're not comfortable opening the PC.
